Resilio and Gardens4Health teamed up with help from the Puketāpapa Local Board to build a network of diverse, empowered and resilient communities through the creation of productive gardens and landscapes. The Puketāpapa Permablitz Project envisions our community to be supported and empowered to: grow food, connect with one-another, earn livelihoods, recycle waste material, restore the natural environment, and overall experience healthy and happy lives. To deliver this vision, Resilio worked with a range of local and regional schools, organisations and companies to create and foster a Permablitz movement for Puketāpapa.
A permablitz is a community working bee and workshop involving a group of 4 or more people coming together for a day to implement a productive and edible garden and/or orchard. Once a person has participated in two permablitzes, they have the option to host their own permablitz at their community garden, school, the grounds of an organisation they work with, or another garden of their choice. Through this process, a Puketāpapa permablitz network is created, made up of people exchanging their time and sharing the experience of creating productive gardens and places.
